The Photographer behind Kuz Photo
My name is Steven Kuzmich, and I was born and raised in Colorado, surrounded by a family where creativity flourished. For generations, my family has included painters, lapidary craftsmen, quilters, stained glass artists, videographers, authors, musicians, and photographers. Their artistry shaped me and instilled a deep appreciation for capturing the beauty of life.
At the age of six, my grandfather gave me my first film camera, sparking a lifelong passion for photography. This gift wasn’t just a toy, it was a connection to my family’s creative spirit. Photography became my way of preserving memories, whether it’s capturing the wonder in my four kids’ laughter or a peaceful moment in nature with a majestic bull moose. For over 35 years, this art form has been my creative outlet and a way to cherish the things I hold dear.
In 2018, I founded Kuz Photo Studio with the dream of turning my passion into a meaningful business. What began as an artistic pursuit of nature and travel prints has grown into a vibrant studio offering portrait, school, and event photography. Inspired by the love and memories I cherish with my own family, I approach every session with a deep understanding of how meaningful these moments are, striving to preserve them with care and authenticity. At its heart, Kuz Photo Studio is about celebrating life’s most meaningful moments, ensuring they’re beautifully preserved for families to treasure for generations.

The Kuz Photo logo is more than just an old camera, it's inspired by family.
My Uncle, a life long film maker, photographer, and artist had a wonderful influence on my life and I created my logo to honor him. We lived apart most of my life, only seeing each other on holidays when I was younger, he and I never had much of a connection. However in the last years of his life he moved to town and somehow our kindred spirit for photography created a brief but amazing bond between us. When my Uncle passed in 2015 it had a huge impact on me and he left behind an enormous camera collection including a Yashica Mat-124 G that he kept right above his desk. I'm so happy I got to share that connection with him, I only wish I had taken advantage of his years of expertise before he was gone. His Yashica now sits above my desk and I think about my Uncle every time I'm out taking photos. Even though he's no longer with us, I still try to impress him with every shot.
